Eustachian Tube Dysfunction Treatment Sarasota and Tampa Bay

Posted in Head Disorders on Apr 5, 2022

Eustachian tube dysfunction is commonly described as the inability to clear the ears. We have all been in an airplane or driving in a car at altitude and experienced fullness in our ear. We relieve the fullness by yawning and equalizing the pressure. With eustachian tube dysfunction patients are unable to relieve the pressure because the eustachian tube is closed shut. In this article we will discuss the neuroanatomy involved and what we feel are the underlying causes of Eustachian tube dysfunction. Then we will offer up a natural procedure that has helped thousands recover from this terrible condition.

Eustachian tube neuroanatomy

The Eustachian tube is a canal that communicates between the inner ear and the throat. When open, there is free communication between the two. When it is closed it muffles the hearing, fluid is trapped in the inner ear, and patients experience a host of different symptoms including; vertigo, tinnitus, ear pain, fullness, and hearing loss. The Eustachian tube closes due to several factors in combination or by themselves.

The muscles that line the Eustachian tube, can become tight like any other muscle. When the muscles that line the Eustachian tube wall become tight, it closes the eustachian tube and you develop eustachian tube dysfunction. The muscles that line the eustachian tube are controlled and modulated by the brainstem , which sits inside of the first and second cervical vertebrae. Injury to the upper neck can cause spinal misalignment and result in the mechanism described above. In combination with upper cervical spine misalignment, allergy and congenital narrowing of the eustachian tube canal also play a factor.

In our Sarasota and Los Angeles based Blair upper cervical offices we have seen hundreds of cases recover from this condition. Read about what one of our cases says about their experience in our office :

“Dr. Hall is seriously a miracle worker. I was skeptical before going to see him because I did not think he would be able to help me, I couldn’t see how. I suffered from severe vertigo attacks, and had been dealing with sporadic attacks for 6 years. Then, for a couple months before going to see Dr. Hall I was having attacks every day, several times a day. They were completely debilitating. I couldn’t drive, I couldn’t take care of my baby, it was awful. I also had hearing loss coupled with the vertigo. It’s a condition called Ménière’s disease. Anyway, I was wearing hearing aids and still could not hear anything! Now, since seeing Dr. Hall, my vertigo has essentially completely subsided (I’ll still have a “blip” here or there but they aren’t even debilitating anymore and only when I’m out of alignment), and my hearing is SO much better. I don’t have to wear hearing aids anymore and I can understand people so well. My whole quality of life has improved too, not just because the vertigo has subsided, but also because I have more energy, I sleep better, I don’t have as many headaches, I feel happier, etc. Dr. Hall can help heal/improve a plethora of problems you might be experiencing, that are all sourced from your neck being out of alignment. Whatever health symptom you might be suffering from he can most likely treat and make it so much better and/or go away completely. He and his staff are so amazing, they care about their patients, they are fair, honest, and have your best interests at heart. Go see Dr. Hall, you will NOT be disappointed!!!!”

These are the types of results that are possible when you get to the root cause and remove it!

What exactly does an upper cervical doctor do?

Blair Upper Cervical doctors are specially trained to locate spinal misalignments in the upper cervical spine and correct them. Spinal misalignments are located by running a battery of neurological tests that locate the spinal segments that have been injured and misaligned by a prior neck injury.

Once located, precision imaging in the form of digital x-ray or cone-beam computed tomography (Cbct) is used to precisely determine which joint has misaligned and the angulation of the misaligned joint. Each person’s anatomy is different and therefore imaging is used to uncover the blueprint to be used to correct each patient’s individual misalignment pattern. Once this information is gleaned, a gentle, light correction is made without twisting, popping, or pulling.

The patient is then monitored overtime to ensure that the correction is holding. If the testing indicates the need for another correction, then it is performed. However, the goal of Blair Upper Cervical Care is for the patient to stay in “adjustment”. It isn’t the correction that produces healing. It is the removal of nerve irritation and the adjustment “holding” in its normal position that allows the body to function better and proceed through a healing process.

This is how Blair Chiropractic care can often help remove the underlying cause of many who suffer from Eustachian tube dysfunction, piriformis syndrome, occipital neuralgia, tinnitus, Vertigo, Meniere’s disease, neck pain, migraine headaches and other chronic health problems by supporting the body in healing itself.
