Sinusitis Treatment Sarasota and Tampa Bay
Swollen shut sinuses can be miserable, especially when it becomes chronic. All of us have experienced swollen shut sinuses from colds or flu, thankfully that type of sinusitis is temporary and passes when the infection is gone. Chronic sinusitis sufferers are plagued with long term sinus issues that never seem to go away. There are many factors that can be involved with chronic sinusitis. However for the sake of this article we will mostly limit our discussion to the upper cervical spine and its influence on the central nervous system and its relationship to the sinus membrane. Over the past 20 years we have helped hundreds of patients in our Blair upper cervical clinics with chronic sinusitis.

"I suffer from years of sinus issues and my first adjustment was incredible! After the adjustment, my sinuses starting draining with instant relieve. Dr. Hall has a gentle touch. Oh, and his office staff are welcoming and very helpful.
July 2018 was initial adjustment and have not used my sinus sprays (2 different types used twice a day) that I had been using for over eight years since.
If you feel there's no hope for your medical issue, please try Upper Cervical Health Care. :)"

How Does the Upper Neck Affect the Sinuses?
The upper two bones in the neck the atlas (c-1) and the axis (c-2) house the brainstem. The brainstem is the most vital structure in the human body and houses many different nuclei (little brains) that control different parts of the body including heart function, respiratory function, postural muscle tone regulation and more. The fifth cranial nerve, called the trigeminal nerve , is responsible for control the sinus membrane and all of its function. If the nerve messages controlling the sinus membrane are functioning normally then the sinus membrane and associated mucous membranes will function normally. However if there is an interference to the frequency of firing exists within the nervous system the membrane can become swollen and become hyper sensitive to environmental pollutants. This hypersensitivity can cause more inflammation and lead to swollen shut sinuses, post nasal drip, and make one more susceptible to sinus infections.
Spinal injury in the form of car accidents, sports injuries, and other blunt trauma can cause misalignment of the upper cervical spine. When this occurs the joints in the neck lose their normal motion leading to a cascade of postural and neurophysiological changes which can negatively affecting ones health. Because the trigeminal nerve nucleus is located inside the brainstem, upper cervical injury can lead to structural deformation and irritation to the brainstem and negatively affect the trigeminal nerve s function. This loss of function can cause chronic sinus problems and a host of other chronic health problems. leading to chronic sinus problems.
What Exactly Does an Upper Cervical Doctor Do?
Blair Upper Cervical doctors are specially trained to locate spinal misalignments in the upper cervical spine and correct them. Spinal misalignments are located by running a battery of neurological tests that locate the spinal segments that have been injured and misaligned by a prior neck injury.
Once located, precision imaging in the form of digital x-ray or cone-beam computed tomography (cbct) is used to precisely determine which joint has misaligned and the angulation of the misaligned joint. Each person’s anatomy is different and therefore imaging is used to uncover the blueprint to be used to correct each patient’s individual misalignment pattern.
Once this information is gleaned, a gentle, light correction is made without twisting, popping, or pulling. The patient is then monitored overtime to ensure that the correction is holding. If the testing indicates the need for another correction, then it is performed.
However, the goal of Blair Upper Cervical Care is for the patient to stay in “adjustment”. It isn’t the correction that produces healing. It is the removal of nerve irritation and the adjustment “holding” in its normal position that allows the body to function better and proceed through a healing process.
This is how Blair Chiropractic care can often help remove the underlying cause of many who suffer from chronic sinusitis, occipital neuralgia, tinnitus, Vertigo, Meniere’s disease, neck pain, migraine headaches, and other chronic health problems by supporting the body in healing itself.
