Wellness Care, ADD, Behavioral Issues In Kids, Slow Healing, and Sarasota – Tampa Bay-Venice-Bradenton Upper Cervical Chiropractic

Norman has been a long-time patient in our Carson Upper Cervical Care office. He was referred by a regular chiropractor who mentioned the upper cervical work to him and Norman decided to come in and check it out.

Our Sarasota-based Blair Upper Cervical Offices are dedicated to helping people live a healthy life by locating and correcting spinal misalignment in the upper cervical spine. Norman tends to be a seeker; he is always looking for new ways of maximizing and improving his health.

Fortunately, after starting care his health moved to a new level and as a result, he sent his wife and son in for care. His wife was wearing an ankle brace for months due to an injury that just didn't seem to be healing up. After she started to care, as Norman explains in the embedded video, her ankle finally healed and in short order, she was without pain.

As a result of her recovery, they both referred to their three-year-old son. Norman asked me if correcting the upper cervical spine in kids could affect their temperament. Their son was having behavioral issues that seemed to be abnormal. After he had his atlas corrected, he became calm, mindful, and happy.

Many people think that only adults are the only ones that get health issues, however, our office routinely sees pediatric patients with colic, chronic ear infections, speech delay, and ADD problems. All three of these healing stories are the result of removing spinal misalignment in the upper neck that irritates the central nervous system which can lead to an array of health issues.

Recently we did a Facebook live in our " ask Dr. Hall - Recover Health Naturally" group to discuss the difference between reactive versus proactive health care. Norman's testimonial video which is embedded in this article is a perfect example of making proactive health care decisions that can keep you healthy before you get sick in the first place.

Most patients who come to our office are chronically ill and have been for many years. However, there is a growing percentage of the population that is educating themselves on ways to stay well and are being proactive in their health before health problems ever-present (reactive health care). There are several pillars of health: Nutrition, exercise, stress management, spiritual foundation, nervous system, and sleep. The more of these pillars you do correctly on a daily basis the healthier you will become.

Reactive health care is the current mainstream health model. The public only goes to the doctor when they have a crisis. Then when they visit the doctor tests are run to come up with a diagnosis. Instead of asking what the cause may be they prescribe medication to treat the symptoms.

Addressing the effects of body dysfunction never gets the cause and taking medication over the long term not only doesn’t address the underlying cause but toxifies the system and can cause other problems over time. While there are times and places that medication is necessary, intelligent people will do as many things as they can proactively to ensure their bodies are as healthy as possible. Being proactive is a wise approach to health.

How Can Correcting the Neck Allow the Body to Recover from Slow Healing, Behavioral Issues, ADD and Increase Wellness and Health?

You have made it this far in the article and you might be asking yourself how these changes can occur in people’s lives like Norman has mentioned. The basic premise of the Blair Upper Cervical work recognizes that the central nervous system is paramount to function and health. The central nervous system is the basis of ALL FUNCTIONS IN THE BODY.

Without exception, your body's health, energy levels, capacity to heal and repair are the results of how competent your central nervous system is. It follows that if a spinal segment in the upper cervical spine is misaligned from its normal biomechanical range of motion it can interfere with normal nervous system function, decrease health and healing, and lead to an array of different health problems.

The goal of the Blair Upper Cervical Work is to restore normal spinal motion and allow the central nervous system to function at its best. In the process of keeping people’s necks clear of spinal misalignment often times many different conditions, symptoms, and diseases can improve or remit. However, the goal of the work is to keep the central nervous system clear and function normally not the treatment of symptoms.

The head weighs 10-12 pounds and rests on the top bone in the neck called the atlas (2 ounces). Furthermore, these two structures sit on top of a “stick” to your neck. Therefore, the neck-skull junction is the most susceptible area of the spine to misalign due to trauma. When it misaligns, it can affect the most important part of the human body, the brainstem. The brainstem is the autonomic control for most functions in the body including heart function, respiratory function, muscle tone regulation, thermoregulation, and more.

What Exactly Does an Upper Cervical Chiropractor Do? Sarasota, Bradenton, Venice, and Tampa Bay Upper Cervical

Blair Upper Cervical doctors are specially trained to locate spinal misalignments in the upper cervical spine and correct them. Spinal misalignment is located by running a battery of neurological tests that locate the spinal segments that have been injured and misaligned by a prior neck injury.

Once located, precision imaging in the form of digital x-ray or cone-beam computed tomography (cbct) is used to precisely determine which joint has misaligned and the angulation of the misaligned joint. Each person’s anatomy is different and therefore imaging is used to uncover the blueprint to be used to correct each patient’s individual misalignment pattern. Once this information is gleaned, a gentle, light correction is made without twisting, popping, or pulling.

The patient is then monitored overtime to ensure that the correction is holding. If the testing indicates the need for another correction, then it is performed. However, the goal of Blair Upper Cervical Care is for the patient to stay in “adjustment”. It isn’t the correction that produces healing. It is the removal of nerve irritation and the adjustment “holding” in its normal position that allows the body to function better and proceed through a healing process.
