The vagus nerve is the body's master off-switch for inflammation
Most people know the vagus nerve as the "rest and digest" nerve. Far fewer know that it is also the physical wiring of the immune system's off-switch — a circuit called the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway.
Here's how the circuit works. The vagus nerve is a two-way cable between the body and the brainstem.
